What really annoys me abt the “not like other girls” thing is how it’s been like twisted around so that now girls who don’t wear makeup and don’t shave and don’t conform to traditional feminine standards of beauty can’t even fucking talk abt how it’s affected them and how oppressive these expectations of women are w/o being shirked off as “anti-feminist” bc they dare to address the differences in how society treats them vs women who do conform to these ideals. Like we’ve become so entrenched in the “make a choice, any choice and it’s progressive” schtick that we’re not only stagnant as a movement but actually harming and silencing women who are combatting ingrained societal misogyny and face the brunt of everyday sexism.
